Back 6th Annual Huairasinchi Adventure Race Home

We, as El Refugio staff, had an incredible opportunity to partner with the race in helping to man the Control Points. We've been training a group of Ecuadorian young people for the last six months in preparation for the race... and most of them had never even been camping before!

Out of 22 control points that spanned 220km of terrain, we were given the most difficult and remote points, which required long hiking and navigating into BEAUTIFUL places with sometimes severe weather. Preparing for the race has been a great opportunity to build relationships with others in the adventure community, and I'm excited about continuing this partnership in the years to come.

Everything went so well. I am so proud of our people, who did an incredible job and received a lot of praise from the race directors. One of the highlights was debriefing with our group and hearing all about what they'd learned through the experience, whether it was appreciation for God through nature, or just being able to finally see parts of their country that they had never experienced before.
